The trulli of Puglia are unlike anything else in Europe.
These cone-roofed limestone houses — built without mortar, some standing for six hundred years — cluster in the valleys of central Puglia in a landscape that stops conversations mid-sentence. Alberobello is the most celebrated, and rightly listed by UNESCO. But the villages around it — circular, whitewashed, perched on hilltops above ancient vines and olive trees — are the part most visitors never find.
