The route to the most remote times of Apulia will start in Canne della Battaglia, famous for the battle in 216 B.C. between the Romans and Hannibal troops; you will end your first day in Barletta, rich in arts and history.

Ascoli Satriano will tell you its history, from Dauni to the wars between Romans and Pirro, to the following historic episodes until reaching freedom during the Second World War, thanks to the Anglo-American troops, to which James Joyce took part.

Canosa is one of the main archaeologic centres in Apulia: inhabited since the Neolithics, it was a very important city of Magna Grecia and Roman Empire. After stopping in Gravina, florid centre during the Neolithic and under the Roman domination, you will move on to Altamura, where pre-historic findings of a skeleton of a man - named "The Man of Altamura" - dating back to 200-300k years ago, were found along with dynosaurs footprints. It is known for its Cathedral, the "Pulo of Altamura", the widest carsic doline in this area, and its protected origin bread.

You will visit the archaelogic site of Egnazia, with its acropolys, its necropolis, the ancient Trajan Way remainings, and then enjoy the evening in the magic atmosphere of the "White City", Ostuni, strolling along its alleys surrounded by white houses and also known to archeology because of a woman skeleton dated 25k years ago.
